Queen Mary 2 Calls at Port of Salalah

Port of Salalah has received the maiden call of the Cunard Line flagship the Queen Mary 2 “QM2”. With a gross tonnage of 151,400 and capacity of carrying 2,600 passengers and 1,300 crew members, the QM2 is one of the largest passenger ships in history.
Currently on a world cruise The QM2 began services in 2004 as the largest liner ever built. The QM2 is a sophisticated ocean liner that boasts the most modern luxuries and amenities, carrying her guests in degrees of comfort from pampered elegance to almost unimaginable luxury. Onboard facilities include the only Canyon Ranch Spa Club on the sea, a Cultural Enrichment Programme, world class entertainment, Kennels for pets, the largest ballroom at sea, the only planetarium at sea and the elegant Mayfair shops. Each cabin is equipped with the internet and computer system to inform passengers of the daily on-board attractions and menus from the wide range of restaurants.

The Port of Salalah is Oman’s largest port. Managed by APM Terminals the port is a made up of a Container Terminal with 6 berths of up to18m depth and a General Cargo Terminal of 12 berths of up to 16m depth. Development and expansion of both terminals is ongoing and will double the port’s capacity over the next four years.
