Port of Salalah, APM Terminals take “The Double”
The Port of Salalah and APM Terminals is proud to have sponsored teams in the Muscat Community Football League (MCFL) for 10-11 year boys and girls – and pleased to see the teams winning the league, taking the cup and above all fostering friendships across nationalities. MCFL engages more than 450 children playing for 30 teams, supported by coaches, team mums and referees all volunteering to make a difference for the kids. The season was dominated by APM Terminals who won every single game to take the league title.
The traditional ending to the season is a Cup tournament, and teams from APM Terminals and the Port of Salalah both made it to the finals, so the scene was set for drama as APM Terminals had won the league game with a comfortable 5-0 victory.
The dramatic match went back and forth with great skill attacking and defending. None the less the final score was a 0-0 draw that took the game to penalties. After 3 saves by the Port of Salalah keeper – that also earned her the “Player of the Tournament Award”, the port’s team could proudly lift the cup.
Kutaiba al Hatmy from the Port of Salalah said: “The Port of Salalah is proud to sponsor the Muscat Community Football League. The MCFL is all about fun, sportsmanship and friendship and it brings together girls and boys from the entire community – from different areas, schools and nationalities. I congratulate the kids on their excellent achievement, and I thank the coaches, team mums and other volunteers for their efforts to make a difference.”
